Sussex Inlet is our nearest township just a short 10 minute drive away. There is a SPAR supermarket, butcher, two bakeries, a bottle shop and several lovely cafes such as Inlet Eats, Bean to Sussex and Little Eadies. It is also a lovely little town to spend some time wandering around with some great little shops to explore including two Op Shops and a huge second hand book store run by the Lions Club. Not to mention the Inlet Cinema for a movie, it’s the quaintest little cinema on the coast. Here is a list of some of our favourites, listed in location order from the top of the street heading towards the river.
And of course, don’t forget a visit to Ocean and Earth, this Iconic Surf Accessories Label has been based out of Sussex Inlet since 1979 and now supplies Surf Shops all over Australia and Internationally. With all the latest innovations in Surf Gear, it’s a must to drop in to the store where it all started. It’s out of town but on your way to us located on Springs Road just after you turn off Sussex Inlet Rd and has plenty of parking.

Always a fun day out for all ages, the paddle starts at the boat ramp at Lions Park and finishes up at Ellmoos Reserve in front of Swordfish with a performance by musicians ‘The Circuit Breakers’ playing a mix of Rock and Roll country favourites and Australian Classics. Marine Rescue will be putting on a sausage sizzle and ‘Swirl ins Ice-cream’ will be on hand with fresh fruit ice-cream. Swordfish Brewery will also be offering eat in and takeaway food.
On Friday the 17th of January we are hosting ‘Music @ The Garden’ at Koolyn Reserve Cudmirrah, near the fire station and community Garden from 6.30pm – 930pm. We will have musician Ben Hynes playing a mix of modern hits and classics that will entertain all ages. Food will be available from El Cantina Mexican food truck from 6pm. The event is BYO, bring a blanket, your family and friends and settle in for an evening of fabulous family fun and tunes.
The ‘Summer at Sussex’ program runs through to the 26th of January 2025, and culminates with an Australia Day Community Picnic with a variety of local musicians including Peter Hughes (a multi-instrumentalist playing a host of original songs and Australian Classics), Michelle Cashman (Americana Troubadour with a powerful fusion of folk storytelling and Americana Grit) The Sandy Bottoms (Playing up-beat Rhythm & Blues, Reggae and Classic Hits). This event will be held at Elmoos Reserve in front of the Swordfish Brewery, bring a picnic or grab takeaway from Swordfish or any of the other local options.
