Tips For Holidaying With Your Pet
While pets are welcomed in the Shoalhaven, responsible pet ownership is a must and Shoalhaven Council does issue fines for non-compliance. There are specific areas where dog are prohibited including children’s play areas and wildlife protection areas.
Between August and April, endangered beach-nesting birds such as the Little Tern and Pied Oystercatcher use the Shoalhaven shoreline to nest and raise their chicks. During this time, it is imperative that dog owners respect ‘dogs prohibited’ zones and any temporary signage informing the public of the presence of nesting birds.
